Deb’s Dozen: Action and adventure, suspense and romance, murders, mahem, and snakes–really? snakes?
Couldn’t figure it out…first Singularity by Steven James…now No One to Trust by Lynette Eason – both involving snakes! Then I had a brainstorm and checked the Chinese calendar – sure enough, last year (while they both were probably writing their books) was the year of the SNAKE. Wonder if that’s where they got the idea? The Chinese year this year is the Year of the Horse – wonder if we’ll be seeing a lot of westerns?
Lynette writes enough action and adventure, and enough suspense and romance, into her book to please every reader. All while involving murders, mayhem, and, yes, snakes.
Kyle Abernathy has the misfortune to witness the murder of a man in cold blood by his partner, Sam. Knowing that he is probably next, Kyle grabs Sam’s laptop that he knows from glances taken at the computer previously contains incriminating evidence against Sam and the Raimondi crime family.
Kyle’s wife, Summer, wakes up one morning to find Kyle missing and three armed men in her home trying to find him and the missing computer. Seems Kyle has been in the Witness Protection Program, and everything she thought she knew about him and their life is wrong.
Finding out how Summer finds Kyle and how Kyle attempts to keep them safe until Sam’s trial is the stuff that makes a great book. We find the FBI, local police, assassins, problem family members, and the Raimondi family all involved in the hunt for the computer and the mission of keeping Summer and Kyle alive. Loved the story and the characters – and am looking forward to the next book in the Hidden Identities series as well.
Last June, I had the privilege of interviewing Lynette at the International Christian Retail Show (ICRS). We had a grand time talking about her and the books she is writing. No One to Trust has the theme of forgiveness and how deception can poison even a good relationship. The next book, No Where to Turn, is about Operation Refuge – to help people whose needs are beyond what the law can do to help.
Lynette is married and has a 13-year-old boy, Will, and 15-year-old girl, Lauren. Her full-time job is professional fund-raising for Christian radio stations. She loves to travel with her husband. She has an undergrad degree in Business and a Master’s in education and teaching. She teaches sign language at an online public school and has taught for Dun & Bradstreet.
She never imagined being a writer, but when her daughter was 9-months-old, she started writing a story in her head and finally put it on paper. After getting rejected a couple of times, she decided that “I need to get this right” and attended her first writers’ conference in 2002. Lynette is fortunate to have Dee Henderson for a mentor and says Dee taught her to write. In 2007, she sold her first book to Harlequin – she even remembers the date was February 16th!
